::Podcast and Examination

A podcast is a series of audio or video files which is distributed over the Internet by syndicated download, through Web feeds, to portable media players and personal computers. It is just as the same as downloading method but it comes with a revolutionize features such as to be syndicated, subscribed to, and downloaded automatically when new content is added.

For me, it is not a very convenient an effective way to get information that I want. I prefer to get magazines or newspaper. One thing that I dont really like is about the audio podcast that really frustrating me a lot. Itune is a really good podcast provider and it comes with a veriaty of titles. However, thanks to the videos that I really enjoy watching it online.

2 different audio podcast that interest me are Generation Tech and XM Weekly Music.
Both of these podcasts have their own characteristic and they are good.

For the video podacast, I found a lot of interesting and funny videos using the "Metacafe". It is very easy to use.

In this newly evolving Internet based world, most of the websites and internet based applications combine and embody both tagging and mashup concepts. Tagging basically means the method of categorizing that allow users to associate key words with online content. A mashup is a website or application that combine content from more than one source into an intergrated experience.

As an example, both of these concepts are applied in the famous online photosharing known as "Flickr". Users can tag the photo by any name they want and other users can search for the photo by searching the correct tag that correspond to the photo. All of the photos that were uploaded in Flickr can be shared by all of the users that come from many source.

Some of the Flickr Mashups that I found interesting are:

Besides Flickr, Google Maps also popular to be "mashed" by users. One example that is:

(Beside using Google Maps, this website mashups the youtube. It provides interactive and exciting experience information about the videos from all over the world.)

One more interactive thing that I can do based from this concept is, I can generates interactive image completely in my browser without any downloading and installing software. There are 4 example that I shown above. The of them was done using "http://generatorblog.blogspot.com/" and the other one using "http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/".

After trying these two online image generator, I found that both of them applied the tag and mashup concept and it is really fun to play with them. For me, I prefer the "generatorlab" because it is more simple and easy to use.

::Experience with RSS~

When the first time I experienced using RSS, it really helps me a lot in saving my precious time. Before this, I kept visiting the same websites all over again and again to check for the updates.

By just sign up for the google account, I can directly uses the Google Reader.
I can subsribes for any websites that I want to get their feeds instantly when updated.
It is so easy. There are 3 ways how I can subsribe and add feeds to the reader. First, I can click add subscription button, search for a site and subscribe directly from the reader. Second, I can click the orange feed button on the website. Third, I can also just copy the web address to subription field.

I can share some of the interesting feeds that I have to other poeple. I can just click share on any item that I want to share so it can appear on the public page. Anyone who know the URL can see what's new that interest me alot. I also can add a clip on my blog so that my bloggermates can know about it. It is very interesting when I can share what I love to others.

As examples, I can know about my friend updates from his blog easily using RSS. I also can know the latest news about my favourite soccer league without visiting the website frequently.
Back in Malaysia, I used to read the loacal newspaper everyday. However, Im in Canada right now and it is impossible to get the copy here. By using the internet, I can read the newspaper online. In addition, by using RSS, I can easily know the latest news without visiting the website.

In conclusion, it is better to use RSS because it is easy, fast and simple. Although it just give me the overview and people might say it is lack of information, it is enough for me to know about what's new. I dont have to waste my time searching for each website one by one.

::Blogging~

Nowadays most people heard about blog. Blogging become very popular and people have their own blog with different purposes.

Those who didn't know about blog may ask this question. "What is blog?"

Actually, "BLOG" is short term for "web log" which also commonly known as web site. It is nothing different with the ordinary website. However, not like most website, blog is something that usually is authorize by an individual. It is like a web page of diary or journal that is always update regularly.

Most bloggers tend to share their opinion about something on their blogs. If you try to visit some of the blogs to find the information that interest you, blogging sites can provide awesome information about thousand of topics. However, we can't rely on the content 100% because it is an individual statement that is subjective.

Blogging has affect the world in many ways. The most affected is the world communication. The communication between people become more easy. Blog creates a world that allow people to share information.

Instead from just watching television, people can get to know a lot more information from blogs. Basically, blog is something that is written down in words and people need to reed the information by some help of the media such as audio media and video media. People just dont realize that they were just come back to the basic that is reading. Most people don't really like to read books. However, when it comes to blog, they would easily try to read it. It is easy and convenient. They don't need to spend their whole time in the library finding the books that they wanted. All of the information can be reach from the finger tip.

From education, business, economic, politics and religions, all people share their knowledge and opinion to others by blog. This indeed affect the world. As I learns to use blog, I meet and know about a lot of people. About their believe, their culture, their opinion about something and therefore I get to know abot the world around me.

As for me, my interest is more about technology and music.

Twitter is the evolution of blog which is more simple and focusing on connecting people. It is a communication blog. Twitter is a free social networking service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates. It is just a text based post which limit 140 characters in length. In overview, twitter is just a tool for telling people that is busy or far away from us about what we are doing.

As for me, blog is better and the best way in communicating people around the world without limit and boundaries. Even I share with people about my problem and I feel comfortable with it. This because people can leave their helpful comments and thus help me go through my life. =)
